TechHealth Completes SAS 70 Type II Audit
September 20, 2010 – Tampa, FL – TechHealth, Inc., a leading provider of outsourced management of ancillary medical services, announced today it has successfully completed a SAS 70 Type II audit. The Statement on Auditing Standards (SAS) No. 70, commonly referred to as “SAS 70,” is a rigorous auditing standard developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). The audit was administered by an independent CPA firm over a 12-month period.
The SAS 70 Type II audit enables an independent auditor to examine a service organization's description of its internal controls; conduct detailed testing for operational effectiveness; and issue an opinion report at the conclusion of the audit.
“Accomplishing this audit demonstrates to our customers that our internal controls are of the highest caliber; they can rest assured their sensitive information is safe with us,” said TechHealth CEO Tom Sweet.
The audit reviewed TechHealth’s control objectives regarding all aspects of its business operations, as well as the Firm’s ability to effectively implement its controls. Areas examined include TechHealth’s hosting or processing of its customers’ data, such as proprietary company information, financial data, and patients’ private healthcare information protected by HIPAA. Auditors tested TechHealth’s computer operations, backup and recovery, and secure storage, media, and document destruction in order to determine the effectiveness of TechHealth’s control procedures. In addition to data management, the audit reviewed TechHealth’s administrative functions, human resource security, physical access, and environmental security.
“TechHealth has always prioritized its control environment; the audit provides official confirmation of our operational strength and security,” added Sweet.
